Library security systems protect books that have not been properly checked out, ensuring they are not stolen or lost. As technology advances, we offer the three different approaches currently used in library security systems.
2. Sensitizer/desensitizer at the librarian workstation.
3. Library security magnetic strips.
2. RFID librarian workstation.
3. Library RFID tags.
4. Book inventory reader.
2. Standard RF security tags.
1. EM Library Security System (basic library security)
Uses electromagnetic detection to protect books. Its advantage is that EM magnetic strips are easily hidden in the book spine and hard to find. This is the traditional library book security method: books are deactivated at checkout and reactivated on return using a sensitizer/desensitizer, suitable for general or small libraries.Basic equipment required:
1. EM single-aisle or dual-aisle library security system.2. Sensitizer/desensitizer at the librarian workstation.
3. Library security magnetic strips.
2. RFID Library Security System (advanced library security and management)
Uses radio frequency to read the ID chip in each security tag. Its advantage is that tags in multiple books can be read wirelessly at once, so every book has its own unique ID. Using ID identification and a database for book security and management, it works with library automation systems for self-service checkout and return, book sorters, fast stock-taking, unmanned operation, holds pickup and more, suitable for advanced management in large public libraries, colleges and universities, national libraries and unmanned libraries.Basic equipment required:
1. Library RFID management system.2. RFID librarian workstation.
3. Library RFID tags.
4. Book inventory reader.
3. RF Library Security System (for libraries whose books are not lent out)
Uses RF wireless detection to protect books. Because books are not lent out, no deactivation equipment is needed; it only protects books that do not circulate. Suitable for small corporate libraries, community libraries, private libraries and small office libraries.Basic equipment required:
1. RF electronic wireless security system.2. Standard RF security tags.
The Answer to a Challenging Era
Ongoing digitalization and budget cuts pose challenges for libraries. But Nedap Library Solutions knows that libraries are a vital part of the local community. Libraries offer young and old inspiring books, great films and moving music. Combining beautiful spaces with numerous cultural activities, libraries have become essential hubs in society.Innovative and Cost-Saving
Nedap Library Solutions helps libraries move toward a new way of working. In the past, librarians lost valuable time manually checking books in and out and reshelving them. Our technology makes these repetitive tasks unnecessary, saving librarians time on handling books so they have more time to help visitors.
A Broad Portfolio of RFID Solutions
With RFID technology, libraries can take remote, real-time book inventory. It helps thousands of libraries around the world in the following ways:- Security: no more books leaving the library unnoticed.
- Staff solutions: librarians have more time for visitors.
- Visitor solutions: borrowing and returning books has never been easier or faster.
- Automatic sorting: books automatically end up in the right place.
- Smart shelves: invisible detection helps find, return and borrow books.
